MUSIC WARM UPS

MUSIC WARM UPS

Here's a percussion IQ tech tip for you. Make sure your exercise and warm up program has some dynamics and range of expression built within it. Your show music most likely has this. You're gonna be judged on this. Yeah.

There's so many groups I watch them warm up and everything's at forte or everything's at piano or they do like an accent tap with forte and piano. But yet in the music, the winds are doing this huge crescendo over 2 bars that the batter is doing a roll that's crescendo for 2 bars. Yeah, there's nothing in the exercise program that works on that. So then it becomes foreign for the student. Let's make sure we give them the right skill sets in their development program including range of expression and dynamics.

That way when they do it in the music, it feels natural and comfortable, And they know exactly what's expected of them to execute it at the highest level. Let's drum smart.
